Adventure on the Plus Highway

Friday evening, on our way to Sintok, we were stuck in the Le Tour de Langkawi crowd in Kuala Kangsar. The two hours that had dragged on tested our patience to the limit. We had left earlier than usual to have dinner in Changloon, alas fate had other plans for us that night.

Just after we had passed the Gurun R&R, I hit an object on the road. Turned out to be a lorry's long shaft, lying across the two lane highway. Split the two right side tires and severely damaged the aloy rims. With us, were five other similarly fated motorists. Luckily no injuries other than to our dinner plans.
Time was nine thirty pm then. Changed the rear tire with the spare. Typically, my spanner and jack was borrowed and never returned. The Plus Ronda chaps, used their tools and changed it for me. Terima kasih abang Plus Ronda. Then gradually  all of them had changed tires with their spares and went on their way. But I had two damaged tires, one down, one to go. Faisal called his cousin to bring a Wira tire, in between his Facebook postings.
His cousin arrived with his spare but forgot his tools. We called Plus Ronda again and once again the chaps helped us out. Terima kasih abang Plus Ronda. We hadn't driven a kilometer, when the long unused tire brought by the cousin also burst. Which mirror did l break today? I am experiencing the seven year bad luck in one night. Pulled to the side. The Plus Ronda who had just helped to change our second tire of the night also stopped. They called a tow truck. The tow truck arrived at two am. By that time, we were hungry and tired to say the least. All set, we were towed to Alor Star and reached a tire shop at three in the morning. Checked into a budget hotel while Faisal went to buy some food. (was it a late dinner or a very early breakfast?)
By eight the next day, we had made arrangement to have the tires and rims replaced and went to breakfast.
Later with a new set of tires and rims, and having made our police report for insurance claim purposes, we finally arrived on campus at half past one. We had already missed our first lecture. As we entered the hall, we were greeted by the time conscious Dr. Moqib, " You are an hour and half late" Sheepishly we sat and the Professor continued his lecture.

Later we attended the Quality lecture at a familiar place, Micro Room.

After classes, we stopped by Pendang and Sg Petani to finish up on the police report.

First Day...

After work on Friday, Faisal and I drove up to Sintok. Thanks to Salleh and Damiat, we had a place to spend the night.
Early the next day, we dropped by the roti canai stall for a quick breakfast. It turned out just as well, as we only had the opportunity for lunch at around three pm.

Due to scheduling conflicts, Faisal and I went separate ways during our first lecture, SGDU5063 HRD in Education. Mine was given by an old friend, En. Nordin Mansor. Sadly, the notes I got from him was corrupted by the virus in Lecture Hall PC. Will have to get them again next Saturday.

The second lecture, SGDU5024 Leadership in Education, was given by a very very interesting character to say the least, Professor Dr. Abdul Moqim Rahmanzai.  The Professor's notes are here : http://rapidshare.com/users/Nazzir/8209

At three pm, almost fainting from hunger, we rushed for a quick lunch a the red cafe and back for the final lecture of the day, SGDU 6093 Quality Management by Dr. Khaliza Saidin.

Masters Registration

On the 5th of February 2013. Faizal and I drove up to good old familiar UUM, Sintok, Kedah, where we (with 26 other friends) spent a bulk of the last 4 years pursuing a degree in Education Management.

Faizal and l were determined to get our Masters, come hell or high water, so here we were. Spent the night at the EDC, woke up bright and early, eager to register and get on with it.

By 9 am, we were at the center, going through the processes of registering as masters candidate. And by 10.30 am, we were done. Only thing left was the briefing due to begin at 2.30 pm. Drove around, buying gifts for the kids to kill the time till then. The briefing dragged on till almost 5 pm. On our way back, we spent five hours through traffic jam and such. Dropped Faizal off at his parents place in Kuala Kangsar, drove to sweet home in Beruas. InshaAllah, both of us will be back in Sintok on the 16th for our first lectures.

Our courses and lecturers this semester will be,

1. SGDU5063 Human Resource Development in Education    (En. Nordin Mansor)
2. SGDU5074 Strategic Management in Education                 (Tn. Hj. Kamarulzaman Md Ali)
3. SGDU6093 Quality Management in Education                    (YBhg. Dato' Abd Rahman Yopr)
